Senior Structural Technician

With continued growth in our Birmingham office, we are looking for an experienced Senior Structural Technician to join our expanding structures team. As a Senior Structural Technician at Link Engineering, you will lead the delivery of high‑quality structural drawings and BIM models across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will play an integral role in supporting engineers, guiding junior technicians, and ensuring that our outputs meet the highest technical and presentation standards.
You will have the opportunity to shape project workflows, influence best practices, and drive the development of our digital design and drawing capabilities.

ROLE OVERVIEW
- Production of drawings and construction details using AutoCAD.
- Production of building models in Revit and extracting drawings and construction details.
- Inputting 3D models from other design professionals to Revit and incorporating the contained information into our designs.
- Production of Reinforced Concrete details and schedules.
- Liaise with architects, architectural technicians, contractors, clients and other professionals representing the practice in a professional and courteous way.
- Attending internal design review meetings.
- Driving and developing our in-house drafting and BIM standards
- Attending site visits and surveys with senior members of staff.
- Contributing to providing solutions to design problems.
- Detailing to NHBC and LABC standards.
- RC detailing to IStructE and BS EN standards.
- Managing the workflow of modelled and drawn information.
- Supporting and managing the output of other Link BC technicians and contract technicians.
- Supporting engineers throughout the building structural design process.
- Developing Standard Details and maintaining Link Engineering BC’s library of standards.
- Ensuring outputs meet the required standards of Link Engineering BC.
- Meeting agreed deadlines.
Driving and developing our in-house drafting and BIM standards - Helping to establish and maintain project administration processes.
- Upholding and assisting with the development and implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Working in both an office environment and occasionally on site.
- Keeping training log up to date and attending, where necessary, CPD/training events.
- Adhering to health & safety regulations.
- Investing in personal development.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of experience within a UK structural engineering practice desirable.
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Familiarity with BS, Eurocodes, and BIM Level 2 standards.
- Technician Membership (TIStructE) or equivalent accreditation desirable.
