Principal / Associate Engineer (Manchester)

THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re expanding our Manchester office and looking for someone ready to come in and make their mark.
As part of a growing team, you’ll have real opportunity to take on wider responsibility and play a genuine part in shaping Link’s presence in Manchester.
Leading multi-disciplinary projects is a key part of this role, and we’ll support you every step of the way as you develop across a range of disciplines, sectors and clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Taking technical ownership of drawings, calculations, reports and design documents produced by you, or coordinating and reviewing work produced by others
- Confident user of design/analysis software including Civil 3D and CAD, and happy to support others as they learn
- Analysing technical problems, assessing feasibility of proposed techniques, and devising new approaches and solutions
- Solving complex engineering problems, drawing on the wider team when useful
- Familiarity with design guides and standards
- Understanding of the designer’s responsibilities under CDM (2015)
- Following and contributing to Link’s procedures for delivering high-quality work that adds value for our clients
- Identifying and managing risk within your area of responsibility
- Supporting other team members in their technical and professional development
- Attending site visits to review project constraints and the construction process
- Leading and managing delivery of projects, liaising with clients and third parties
- Presenting and discussing technical solutions with technical and non-technical audiences alike
- Internal project management, including resource planning and financial control
- Identifying and responding to commercial risks and opportunities
- Developing fee proposals and project cost estimates
- Building and maintaining relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Investing in your own personal development
- Supporting business development and helping the team grow
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Recent consultancy experience in the North West preferred
- Masters degree in civil and / or structural engineering desirable
- Chartered or close to chartered with ICE or IStructE.

WORKING PATTERN & BENEFITS
We typically work four days in the office and one from home. We’re big believers in being together.
