Lidl, Tame Bridge
Walsall Road
Link was appointed by Lidl for the development of a new Lidl food store with associated car parking area along Walsall Road (A4031). Link was tasked with designing the on-site levels & drainage and S278 design works.
The design of the drainage and levels had to carefully consider the existing site constraints as the development was a brownfield site. The drainage strategy utilised infiltration. However, careful consideration was required due to groundwater table. The level strategy had to consider existing levels in number of locations along the site due to the minimal space for provision of retaining whilst aiming to achieve an earthworks cut & fill balance.
The Section 278 design was interesting as it had a variety of items that put our highway team to the test. From Signal Crossing, opening of a central reserve to allow right in and right-out movements and narrowing & widening of carriageway.
Do you have any highway schemes that require assistance? Please get in touch to discuss how Link can assist you.
