Link was appointed by Countryside Properties to provide civil engineering services for their proposed development of Hall Green Road, West Bromwich. The scope of services was to cover planning through to detailed design for a proposed residential development of 223 dwellings. Link were engaged to provide planning input in relation to drainage and highways in order to provide sufficient information to satisfy the local planning authority in order to facilitate the granting of planning permission for the site. 

Link’s role post achievement of planning permission was agreed to include producing the detailed design packages to enable S104 and S278/38 packages to be submitted to Severn Trent Water and Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council Highways respectively. Taking these applications through to technical approval to facilitate the future adoption of the drainage and highway infrastructure. In addition to this, Link’s were asked to provide the private levels and drainage designs for the plots themselves.

It was proposed to discharge the surface water from the development to the Tame Valley Canal to the north of the site at a restricted rate of 33.1l/s with attenuation being provided in the form of underground attenuation tanks. The foul water flows from the development were to discharge to the Severn Trent Water foul sewer in Hall Green Road, with an adoptable pump station provided in order to drain some of the plots lower down the site.
